Meet the Artist

Hello, I am Katie Das! πŸ‘‹

I am a stained glass artist living in Manhattan, breaking glass and turning it into custom artwork from my apartment. My process involves designing patterns, cutting shapes from glass sheets, grinding each piece of glass to size, wrapping them in copper foil, and soldering them together to create one-of-a-kind glass art that will last a lifetime.

When I'm not in the studio, you can find me:

  • Exploring with my pups, Yoshi & Zuko
  • Feeding pigeons (and possibly rats) in the park
  • Zooming around on roller skatesΒ

My artistic style is in constant evolution, shaped by the ever-changing environments I've called home. I was born and raised in Arkansas, spent 9 years moving around NorCal, one year snowed into Utah, and landed in New York City in March 2024.

Through the last 10 years of constant moves - from being locked down in San Francisco after years of bouncing around the Bay Area, to surviving a record-breaking winter in Salt Lake City, and now trying to find my way in a post-covid New York City - my main source of stress relief has come from making art.

My goal is to create stained glass pieces that not only transform the spaces they're in, but also narrate stories of transformation, mirroring my own journey. To me, stained glass art serves as a powerful reminder: even when life seems to be shattering around you, you can still craft something beautiful from the fragments.
